In May, Letterman will be stepping down from The Late Show

David Letterman has been with CBS’ The Late Show for 21 years, but he’s getting ready to retire this year, on May 20, as he announced in April 2014. In anticipation of that moment, his guests have started putting together small surprises for him, something to remember them by when he’s off doing who knows what else.

Tina Fey, for example, has had the best send-off so far, as you can see in the video below. She gave him the dress off her back, literally.

The comedienne showed up in a gorgeous, body-hugging dress in royal blue, with black accents, and humbly accepted David’s praise on how good she looked. She explained that he was the only talk show host she dressed up for like this, stressing that he should feel special because looking this good didn’t come without a high cost.

For one, Tina hates wearing dresses. Secondly, she’s not very good with heels, so she hardly ever wears them, unless of course, she’s booked to appear on Letterman. Last but not least, the kind of “contraptions” she had to get herself into to look good in that dress are “almost medical.”

So because this will be the last dress she will wear on Letterman, Tina let him have it, stripping down to her Spanx and an extra bodysuit, customized for the occasion.

Check it out.
