Producer and rapper Timbaland is one step closer to doing the unthinkable: getting Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart to appear in the upcoming video for “Morning After Dark” as the two beloved characters in the “Twilight” films, Edward Cullen and Bella Swan. Moreover, the video will also try to add a twist to the familiar story, while also including other stars that appear in the films, Timbaland himself confirms for MTV.

Fans of the beautiful vampire story (or “fanpires,” as they’re called) and especially those who don’t like seeing it go in different directions than those outlined by author Stephenie Meyer need not despair, though. While Timbaland promises the video will bring a “twist” by incorporating characters that do not appear in the books, played by the rapper and his friends, of course, he also vouches the changes will not “offend” – a fan like himself would never do anything to upset other fans.

“I want certain people in the video. I want the same characters of ‘Twilight,’ which I’ve almost got. If I get Bella and Edward, it would be [ideal]. I’m gonna give a twist to it, though.” Timbaland says for MTV. The twist would consist of making the “Twilight” universe somewhat darker and more confusing, kind of like how it was in the “Underworld” films. With him being this close to getting Pattinson and Stewart to appear in the video – which alone should stand as proof of the kind of influence Timbaland has in showbiz, they say –, it certainly looks like fans are in for one major surprise.

“It would be almost, kind of like, ‘Underworld.’ Kind of like that movie, you won’t know what we are. You don’t know if we’re vampires, but we are something. We would protect her [Bella] while he goes away from the other dude [Jacob] and the other people [the Cullens]. We was his last hope, he wouldn’t want to use us, the whole thing. If [Edward] calls us it would be a big payback – a big price to pay to call my team of people to protect her. It’s a whole little story line.” Timbaland further says of his idea for the video.

Furthermore, the rapper has also thought of a follow-up video that would use the same storyline. Again, this could only mean that the first one is as good as done, several music-oriented publications speculate. “Morning After Dark” is Timbaland’s first single off the “Shock Value 2” album. Keep an eye on this space for updates on this.
