It's a small unit strategy title

Following the release of Hinterland, Tilted Mill announced that its next game project would tackle the American Civil War period. The game will be called Mosby's Confederacy and seems to approach the period from a different perspective.

The game will focus on the exploits of John S. Mosby, who fought on the side of the Confederacy as a cavalry and skirmisher commander. The game will not focus on the strategic action or on the big tactical battles of the Civil War, as most games set in that era do, but will try to get the player interested in the smaller skirmishes which made up most of the battles of that conflict. The player will be in command of a small group of highly skilled fighters that will have varied missions, like scouring the ground in front of a larger force, ambushing high level enemy targets, stealing supplies from trains and convoys while also harassing a bigger enemy force.

Tilted Mill says that the game will be real time as far as the tactical battles go but there will also be a strategic layer which is turn based. You will be able to recruit troops from various cities and you will be able to train them as they gain experience. As a guerrilla commander, you will also have to take care of the morale of the civilians in your area of action so that they support you and your fight.

Because the numbers involved in battles will be small, you will be challenged to keep tabs on each of your soldiers, with each of them gaining real importance as they get experience.

With an interesting setting and with cool sounding gameplay mechanics, Mosby's Confederacy might just become one of the best games set in the Civil War era.
