Electronic Arts has announced that it will be launching a new Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game in late March of this year, for the first time in the history of the series featuring the iconic Masters event recreated in all its detail, but the presence of Tiger Woods in the new game seems more limited than ever.

When the announcement of the new Tiger Woods golf game was made, the superstar himself has stated, “I am very happy and excited that the Masters Tournament is featured in the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR game. There are many new and unique elements in the game that will make everyone feel like they're really competing at Augusta National. This is great for the sport and will connect a new audience with the Masters, a tournament I've been fortunate to experience since 1995.”

He added, “Continually growing the visibility of golf is important to attracting newcomers to the sport, and I agree that showcasing the Masters Tournament in the game will bring an entirely new dimension to that approach.”

Despite the official statement, the batch of screenshots that were released by EA Sports when the announcement was made seem to be lacking images of Tiger Woods himself, suggesting that he might be much less present in the game than in previous versions.

The covers for the normal editions of the game also seem to lack the athlete, although they have not yet been finalized, and only the Collector's Edition for the PlayStation 3 displayed his image at the moment.

Last year Tiger Woods had to face a huge scandal linked to infidelity, which led to a pause in his gold competition.

Upon his comeback, the golfer failed to get the same form that made him the best in the world.

Electronic Arts has initially said that it stands by Tiger Woods and will continue to work with him, but more recent statements suggest that he needs to go back to his winning ways soon.
