Wildlife rangers in Kodagu, India are now trying to discovered how and why a tiger pelt ended up hidden in a forest area located within walking distance of Nagarahole National Park.

The evidence they have managed to collect thus far suggests that the animal got killed by a poacher who later stripped it of its skin.

However, no animal body parts have been discovered in this area, so the rangers cannot say for sure what caused the tiger's death. What's more, they cannot comment on the animal's age.

“As of now, we don't know the reason for the death of the tiger. We are not ruling out poaching and are probing from that angle too,” a ranger told the press.

Since the pelt does not have any bullet holes in it, the rangers suspect that, if it were true that this tiger was killed by a poacher, the latter used poison.
