Today, Samsung Electronics announced the upcoming availability of two new handsets running under Google’s Android operating system, namely the Galaxy Ace 2 and Galaxy Mini 2.

Shortly after the official launch, wireless carrier Three UK confirmed plans to make the mobile phones available for its customers as well.

No official release date has been confirmed for the time being, but the carrier notes on its website that both of these smartphones “will be coming to Three very soon.”

The devices will be added to the carrier’s lineup as the successors of the popular Samsung Galaxy Ace and mini devices.

However, when compared to the predecessors, the new devices have a lot to offer in terms of performance, the carrier notes. Both of them run under Google’s Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

Samsung’s new Galaxy Ace 2, for example, was made official with a dual-core application processor inside, which should result in increased browsing speeds and scrolling between menus and screens.

At the same time, the new device features a 3.8-inch touchscreen display, a bit larger than in the original, and packs 4GB of internal memory.

The smartphone also features a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera with HD video recording capabilities, and a front camera for making video calls.

As for the new Samsung Galaxy Mini 2, the South Korean mobile phone maker packed it with a bright and vivid 3.3-inch touchscreen display.

The new handset comes with a faster application processor when compared to its predecessor, and also features some extra internal memory for storing more photos, songs, videos or other files.

The phone also comes with a 3-megapixel photo snapper on the back, and with a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of expandable storage.

Although it sports a small package, the device also provides support for applications available for download via the Android Market.
