Update to your login page

A while back, Yahoo! decided that it had been receiving too many complaints about people duplicating the login page to their mail service in order to steal their accounts. The one simple solution that the team saw fit to put in place was to allow its users to create something like a seal that would authenticate the official login page.

Soon enough after the decision was made, they "folded" the top of the box containing the login fields and made it clear what that was about, by adding there a link dubbed "Prevent Password Theft," that, if clicked, redirected users to pages where the process of seal making would be explained and encouraged. They either had the option to upload a photo (easier to recognize even if you're not paying attention) or to write some message, known only to them. At the time, I went for the photo alternative because it was easier and required less attention on my part when logging in. The seal was unique for any PC, so if you were using several different computers to check your mail, you would have to personalize all of them, just to be on the safe side.

A couple of days ago, I noticed that there's been a change in display, but didn't know what to make of it, because nothing official had been announced. The corner where my photo was displayed was not changed, but others' was: instead of the fold was a more prominent yellowish box just above the ID and Password boxes. That was added to further draw the attention of people towards the technique that Yahoo! had come up with to prevent password theft. After going through the process described above, it will look just the same as before, with your pic up to the right.

I know many have also noticed the change, but I know some have been pretty distrustful of the new box at first, so I only wanted to clear things up.
