The New York / New Jersey Super Bowl Host Committee is pleased to announce that, all things considered, this year's event at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, US has high chances to be the greenest Super Bowl ever.

According to Eco Watch, this is because whatever waste oil is produced when cooking food for the people attending the event will be collected and used to make biodiesel fuel.

Besides, the food that is not eaten will not be thrown away, but will be instead kept from reaching landfills by being composted.

Interestingly enough, it appears that the food that people will get to enjoy at the event will not be served in styrofoam containers that greenheads have long been pointing the finger at and accusing of polluting the environment.

The same source details that both the country's National Football League and staff working at the MetLife Stadium have promised that plastic, glass, aluminum and paper containers used at the upcoming Super Bowl will be recycled.

Lastly, several dozen green energy certificates are to be bought for this event. Thus, this year's Super Bowl will further improve on its ecological footprint with the help of some 240 solar and roughly 5,700 wind energy certificates.
