If this isn't eco-friendly, I doubt anything could ever really qualify as such

Recycling is what many activists feel should become the lifeblood of human society, but that's kind of hard to do for a lot of things, especially tech products made with lots of plastic, so Samsung is switching the material for cardboard.

You heard me, cardboard. Samsung is preparing a home printer made of cardboard.

There's still some plastic involved, and the insides most definitely use lots of metal and, of course, standard ink cartridges.

But the exterior is made of good old, brown cardboard. Recycled corrugated cardboard actually. No wonder the printer is called The Origami.

Samsung's invention was a Gold Award winner at the 2013 IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards).

It is also foldable and supposedly just as durable as printers made of plastic, because the cardboard is specially cut and folded in a sequence to provide a tough case for the electronic printing engine inside.

Sadly, no price or ETA has been revealed yet.
