You have to wonder why this hasn't been done before

Every once in a while, something happens that makes you want to bash your head against the “bash here” wood post. This is one of those times, for the lighting industry anyway.

Why do I say that? Because designer Lin Guohui invented a light bulb that can become a flashlight, thus prompting the question of why, oh why no one thought of this sooner.

Oh well, at least the fact that it hasn't been thought of before adds a level of amusement to this occasion.

Anyway, the light bulb is a LED light that can be outfitted with a battery, thus allowing it to light a path even when it's still in your hand.

One might use this as an explanation for that funny dilemma we have mentioned: incandescent bulb would be too hot and need to much power to do this.

Then again, it's not like LED bulbs are all that new, so the point stands.

The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) sells the new flashlight bulbs.
