It's still solid enough to properly carry you around the bend though

I suppose I shouldn't be too shocked to learn about a 3D printed motorbike after seeing robot parts and even 3D printed guns come and go.

The thing in the photo up there is the Energica Ego, made by Italian motorcycle maker CRP.

It is an all-electric superbike created from polyamide-based materials reinforced with carbon fiber and selective laser sintering.

The laser chooses which powdered material to fuse on to the surface of a powder bed by scanning cross-sections, generated from a 3D digital file's description of the part.

The technical mumbo jumbo is pretty extensive, but suffice it to say that the Ego, despite being the first lightweight, zero-emission electrical bike, is pretty cool and good looking.

The top speed may not be colossal, at 150 mph, but the acceleration is a nice 100 mph in 3 seconds.

Sales will start only in 2015, alas, and the price isn't known for now.
