14 DAY TRIAL // You can’t be in your late 20s or early 30s and not have heard of “Dr. Quinn: Medicine Woman,” the iconic series that ran on CBS between 1993 and 1998 and was a roaring success because it aimed to break all the molds with a tale of bravery, determination, and love like no other before.
Dr. Quinn was played by Jane Seymour, and it’s perhaps one of her most famous roles, with the only possible exception being her role as a Bond girl in 1973’s “Live and Let Die.” Jane Seymour, in case you were wondering, is 63 years old, she’s still working a lot in both theater and film, has not lost her sense of humor, and is as fine as ever.
Seymour and a bunch of regulars on “Dr. Quin,” including Joe Lando (and his hair), who played paramour Byron Sully, got together for what can only be dubbed the most awesome reunion show ever. It’s definitely the best “Dr. Quinn” reboot you could want and probably close to what would happen if it were actually made.
So what if you’re getting a clear sense of deja-vu watching it? It’s only a coincidence that it carries so many similarities to another hit TV show that wrapped up, “Breaking Bad,” with Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul. The glasses, the artwork, the story are all coincidences.
Among the actors who agreed to come back for this one-time (sadly so) reunion, I am sure you will recognize Jonelle Allen, Orson Bean, Henry G. Sanders, Geoffrey Lower, Jason Leland Adams, and Brandon Douglas, and of course, Seymour and Lando.
“It’s not like your Grandma’s Dr. Quinn.” It’s definitely not: “Dr. Quinn: Morphine Woman” is the best thing ever.
