The clone is no flattery act

The jolly fellows from Dapreview have done a remarkable job spotting another clone on the loose. This time, it's the case of a no-name electronics company, which dares clone cute Creative players. And with so many iPod, iPhone and Zune versions out there, Creative is only a step away from getting its portfolio copycatted.

Chinese company (of course?) Yuatong has mischievously taken on Creative's Zen Stone Plus, when developing their Yoto Q14 player. It reveals identical features as the original item. The worst thing is that they even borough the interface, as well as the major part of the extra specs.

Therefore, it also comes packed with an FM tuner and voice recorder option. Funny thing, the clone actually manages to surpass its original model, integrating no less than 4GB storage capacity, as opposed to the only 2GB brain size of the Zen.

To fake a vague similarity they also changed the built-in screen orientation, so that the Yoto is used in a vertical manner, while Zune Stone Plus uses a more logical horizontal control. Besides that, it reveals the same 1.1 inch round screen size screen display, with a resolution of 128 x 64 pixels.

Regarding its capabilities, the player can deal with MP3 and WMA audio formats. It also allows MIC audio recording function, meaning it can also perform voice recording using WAV audio file format. It displays e-book txt files and can be recharged from both USB direct charge and recharger. It also features an integrated lithium battery. It uses a single 3.5mm headphone hole and USB interface for file transfer.

I still cannot understand why these acts of piracy always get unpunished. No official price is out yet. Anyway, the point is imitation is lame!
