Eidos Montreal has just revealed a 17-minute pure gameplay video of its upcoming Thief, more specifically one of the early missions called Lockdown, as captured on a PC with an Xbox 360 controller.

Thief is eagerly awaited by the many fans who fell in love with the franchise a lot of years ago, even if some are reserved about the reboot to the series, which introduces a new version of protagonist Garrett, and much more.

Now, after sharing quite a few different images and trailers with the game, Eidos Montreal decided to reveal a direct feed gameplay video without any sort of editing, commentary, or other such things, showing just how Garrett behaves early in the game.

"We chose the mission right after the tutorial, as it’s the first time players will be free to experiment fully with the environment and gameplay mechanics, and it offers at least four different ways to infiltrate the building so we could show you things you haven’t seen before without spoiling the plot too much," the studio said on its blog.

According to the developer who actually controlled Garrett in the demonstration video below, while most of the head-up display (HUD) elements are in place, a few modifications are in place.

"I’ve kept a lot of HUD elements on in this vid so you can see the default setup, but I tweak things when I play the game just for fun. For example, I sometimes turn off the objective marker. As with many games, you can have a tendency to just run towards a marker, but if you do this in Thief you miss so much: secret loot, hidden collectibles, alternative routes and so on."

Eidos emphasizes that, thanks to the highly customizable HUD, players can remove all sorts of elements.

The game in the video was recorded on a PC with an Xbox 360 controller and you can check out the specifications below.

CPU: AMD FX 8350 RAM: 8GB Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7970 Hard Drive: 125GB SSD OS: Windows 7

Thief launches on February 25, in North America, and February 28, in Europe, for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
