A man creates amazingly accurate replicas of the ships

Star Wars is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, even more than when the TOR game was released. All because of the new movie set to come out in the relatively near future. One fan is showing his interest by creating items that could easily have upstaged the original trilogy props.

You're probably well familiar with the Republic rebels' X-Wing fighter craft, as well as the TIE used by the Imperial forces.

If so, then you'll instantly recognize the items on display in the attached photo and video.

Created by YouTube user “Printing the Revolution,” the objects are perfect replicas of the ships in the films.

They were made by an Ultimaker 2 3D Printer, but the models came from Thingiverse user David Hanwell, so we can't credit him exclusively.

Still, the YouTube user revised the model and added some further detail, even removing the non-manifold legs and making the G-Code generation easier.

Gray-colored PLA filament was the material chosen for the construction, with an extrusion temperature of 215 degrees Celsius / 419 degrees Fahrenheit.

The prints went well enough, but the finishing work proved the most important. With an airbrush kit, he painted the models and then used them to create a video of them. See it below.

Hanwell's Thingiverse model for the X-Wing can be found here and the TIE Interceptor here.
