DDR2 and DDR support only

Thermaltake is known for offering some of the best (and sometimes downright weird) cooling products for your computer hardware components. Today, the company announced a new solution meant to provide your high-end DDR and DDR2 memory with the cooling factor required for intensive performance.

The new product is dubbed RamOrb (part of the company's Orb cooler series) and you will know this isn't a standard cooling solution from the first time you set your eyes on it. Unlike similar products, the RamOrb combines a copper heatpipe with an extra 5cm fan to ease the temperatures of the latest high-end memory modules. The extra fan can improve the heat dissipation process, which translates into a better overall performance achieved by your high-end DDR2 memory.

The heatspreader is quite slim, but the extra 5cm fan attached to the memory cooler will probably stand in the way of you upgrading your system's performance by installing more than two memory modules. On the bright side, Thermaltake claims that its product can easily be installed on any DDR or DDR2 memory, thanks to the angle adjustable design. The small fan can rotate at up to 4500RPM, while providing a maximum airflow of 8.18 CFM and a noise level of 20 dBA. The product weighs only 136g and comes with a 50000 hour lifespan.

The manufacturer hasn't released any information regarding the price tag of the RamOrb, but we will probably find the new product at several retailers, very soon and we could also see various memory manufacturers use the RamOrb for one of their latest DDR2 memory offers. A DDR3-compatible version is also expected, but the company hasn't released any details in that direction.

Thermaltake also unveiled today the Thermaltake Cinema, a specially designed website that will allow users to get a better glimpse at the company's products.
