14 DAY TRIAL // Mid-tower cases are the most common type of enclosure bought by consumers on the DIY PC market, which means that new ones come out on a regular basis. Thermaltake has just made its latest contribution.
The company has formally launched the Urban T21 and Urban T31, which are advertized as mainstream mid-towers but are likely to be bought by gamers more than people seeking to build a regular system.
That's because they have space for long NVIDIA/AMD graphics cards and rubber grommet holes for advanced cable management and liquid cooling.
Thermaltake itself says, in its press release, that the Urban Series “has a sophisticated and cutting-edge look [and is] designed for users who look for powerful performance and high expandability but with a more simple and sophisticated look.”
The Thermaltake Urban T21 has three optical disk bays, six HDD/SSD bays, two pre-installed 120 mm fans, tool-less installation for drives (both for 5.25-inch and 3.5-inch bays) and a metal brushed front door.
There is an I/O panel on the top too, with SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, an HD microphone jack, and a headset jack.
Furthermore, the chassis happens to possess a side-window too, giving a clear glimpse of the insides and whatever LED lighting exists, if any.
The Thermaltake Urban T31, meanwhile, comes in both a windowed and non-windowed version, and has the same internal drive array as the T21 (six HDD/SSD bays, two ODD bays).
The non-windowed version benefits from a better sound insulation, thanks to sound-damping foams on both side panels. The windowed one has the foams on the left panel, but the windowed part has to live without them.
Two pre-installed 120mm fans are available here too, and there's even a top-mounted HDD/SSD 2.5-inch / 3.5-inch dock. As for the I/O panel, it has a pair of USB 2.0 ports in addition to the USB 3.0 and audio jacks.
Thermaltake Urban has a price of $89 / €89, while the urban T31 Window is a $99 / €99 product. The T21, meanwhile sells for $69 / €69.
