That's a fourth of the price that these things normally go for

The latest display that Xiaomi formally launched would have qualified as nearly miraculous if not for one tiny little problem: you won't be able to buy it.

Well, you will be able to buy it if you're Chinese. If you live anywhere else, though, tough luck.

It's a real shame too. How often does a 49-inch UHD TV appear that has a price of only $649 / €474 – 649? The short answer is “never.”

And we're not just looking at a normal TV with 4K resolution either (3840 x 2160 pixels).

The Xiaomi Mi TV 2 is a Smart TV powered by a quad-core ARM processor (1.45 GHz clock), 2 GB of RAM and an Android operating system (Xiaomi's own MIUI). The Smart TV even uses 8 GB of built-in storage, and can support microSD cards too (for recording shows or playing stored films).

Then there's the remote control, which uses Bluetooth (great range, no problems due to visual obstructions) and will alert you to its location if you lose it.

All in all, the newcomer easily matches all its competitors, while selling for a fourth of the price of the next best thing. You can already pre-order the Xiaomi Mi TV 2 but, again, only if you're from China.
