With companies throughout the world struggling to stay afloat during recession, one British television presenter knows the reason why the economy is down. Outspoken Fern Britton is of the opinion that the economical downturn wouldn’t have occurred in the first place if women had ruled the world, as she has revealed on Question Time on BBC1.

Although aware that she may sound sexist, Britton has gone ahead with expressing her true feelings about the current state of the economy. Should women have been in charge, the situation would not have been half as bad because, she says, they would have known how to handle money issues to avoid recession. While this does not offer a solution to the crisis in any way, it does make for an entirely different take on it, the British media is telling.

“It appears that a lot of men have been in on this money business and they have made a very bad fist of it. If there was some women doing some old fashioned housework, if there was the old fashioned housekeeping where women are traditionally pretty good at making sure the money goes in the pot for electricity and the phone and the whatever – we didn’t pillage and rob it and stick it all on a horse to see if the money would come in next week, which it clearly hasn’t – when we put all that money into the banks and we see nothing coming back.” Britton has shared on TV.

Moreover, the presenter adds, the recession could have been seen coming a mile away, if only men had paid more attention to the obvious signs. “It seems to the majority of people, that we who have families and mortgages and all of those things, we knew that spending was too much. We knew that credit was being offered willy nilly, we knew that money was suddenly very cheap to borrow.” Britton has explained to a chorus of cheers and a few boos here and there.

On the same show, Fern Britton has also shared her opinions on binge-drinking, university fees and the Olympics. Alcohol abuse, she believes, is one of the major issues in today’s Britain, and fighting it requires a good education program as well as stricter regulations.
