Thecus, a company well known in the industry for its storage server solutions, has just announced the introduction of a new line of enterprise NAS devices designed to deliver high capacities without breaking the bank.

The new NAS server line is comprised of three solutions, the N8900V, N12000V and N16000V, all running Intel processors coupled with the company’s powerful software.

The simplest of the three NAS servers is the eight-bay N8900V that is based on an Intel Pentium G620 processor clocked at 2.6GHz, while the two other solutions are built using Intel’s Xeon E3-1225 CPU with quad-computing cores and a 3.10GHz base frequency.

Besides the more powerful CPU, these two servers also add a host of advanced features such as support for SAS drives running at up to 15000rpm, USB 3.0 ports, a 10GBASE-T Ethernet adapter to connect to 10GbE networks with a regular Ethernet cable (CAT6 with RJ45 plug) as well as an HDMI output.

Moving to the embedded firmware, this includes iSCSI support, Citrix and VMWare certification, and all the common and uncommon RAID levels for data redundancy, while additional features can be added via Thecus’ module system.

Also, each of the V Series comes bundled with one Acronis Backup Software to give users a free of charge professional software backup solution to simplify storage and backup tasks.

"While IT budgets are tightening, the need for quality high-capacity NAS has, paradoxically, never been so strong within professional environments,” said Florence Shih, General Manager of Thecus Technology Corp.

“Combining Thecus quality standards, innovations and high-value hardware, the V series is designed to bring customers alternative solutions and help them to manage their critical resources without crippling their budget," concluded the company’s rep.

No info regarding the release date or the pricing of these value line NAS servers was made public by Thecus.
