Is it a DS Copycat?

We were talking yesterday about the summer of 2006 and about the gadgets' market which exploded along with the temperature. And it seems that the theory is validated again by one of the leaders in the gaming segment - Nintendo.

The manufacturer thought that, if Sony makes such a fuss about its PS3, and Microsoft's Xbox 360 gets so many peripherals instead of attention, it should do something. So, the representatives thought for a long time and then? boom a new DS version is launched on the market.

It seems that Nintendo DS Lite, this is the name for the superb handheld console, promises many things, such as touch double screen, a slim stylus, voice recognition, Wi-Fi capabilities and much more.

The design? not so impressive or stylish, as Nintendo chose a simple straight one and only two colors, the classic ones - black and white.

As you can see with your own eyes, Nintendo DS Lite is a lighter and nicer version of the highly successful Nintendo DS, which has sold more than 4 million units across Europe and 16 million units worldwide.

This is why the manufacturer preferred to use the same old recipe and just add a few new spices. Because, why should we risk when we already have a winning product?

On the other hand, Nintendo DS Lite has really great features, besides all the ones the predecessor has, such as an advanced touch screen technology, allowing players to control the software with a stylus or even with their finger, dual screens, voice recognition and Wi-Fi capabilities.

As it weighs nearly 60g less than the original and it is just two thirds of the DS' size, it can be better handled and it better be, because the user will be capable to adjust screen brightness with four settings, to reposition the microphone for ease of use, and to play with a larger and more comfortable stylus.

But Nintendo thought that, if it should launch a handheld console, why not release new game titles. This is why, only two weeks starting today, the manufacturer will release "Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain?", and some days after "Nintendogs Dalmatian & Friends Edition".

Nintendo DS Lite is now available worldwide at an estimated retail price of around ?99.99/149.99 Euro.
