Griffin has announced that it will start shipping the new and improved iTrip starting today. One of the most popular iPod FM transmitters in now compatible with the fifth generation video iPod and with all other iPods that feature a full sized dock connector.

The new iTrip follows the tradition of its forefathers having a compact, self-contained design and drawing power from the Pod itself. Despite its small size, it boasts a large, easy to read backlit LCD screen which makes setting its digital tuner easy and intuitive. A convenient switch on the side of the iTrip makes it a breeze to select broadcast frequency. But you won't have to adjust the settings very often, because iTrip remembers its settings for convenience, which is perfect when you're driving around.

One of the new features is selectable LX or DX modes of broadcasting. This allows you to adjust for best possible audio under real-world conditions, which can be a real problem in large cities with lots of radio stations crowding the air.

Another great feature is the ability to set the iTrip to either US or International tuning modes, the latter allowing access to all available frequencies throughout the world, while the former filters out any irrelevant frequencies, helping to decrease unnecessary scrolling through channels.

All this, combined with the compact design and the lack of need for an external power supply, makes the Griffin iTrip one of the best iPod FM transmitters out there, with superior sound quality and practically no clutter.
