It's so good the temperatures are rising and we will be able to enjoy nature's rebirth, the chirping of birds, the purl of waters, and the gale of the wind.

Let's face facts, in the middle of the urban rush you cannot hear the sounds described above unless you have recorded them in your last vacation.

Sony has decided it's time for a little peace and quiet, and for those who cannot afford the time to go on a vacation, the solution is a pair of headsets that cancels background noise. MDR-NC50 eliminates 80% of that annoying noise. The headsets offer a superior quality sound in a special design and maximum ergonomics.

The technology of noise canceling uses a microphone integrated into the headsets which detects the sounds from the low frequency spectrum (20-1500 Hz). In this way, the noise produced by the airplanes' engines, subway or tram, computer fans, or different household appliances will be just a bad memory. The circuit creates a sound opposed to the one picked up by the microphone, offering improved conditions for listening music or watching a movie during a flight.

From the tests carried out by Sony it turns out the headsets offer a 14db volume reduction in the 300 Hz domain. The headsets use 40mm drivers and neodymium magnets which combined with the noise canceling circuit ensure an excellent sound quality. The MDR-NC50 model can be used both active and passive, meaning if the noise canceling condition is no longer necessary, the headsets can be set just to play sound from a source: digital player, Hi-Fi unit, etc.

The headsets will be available in June and will have a price tag of approximately 200 USD.
