iPhone's price rumors reloaded

There's nothing sure about the iPhone yet, apart from the fact that it's going to come out sometime next year and some general statements like "it's going to be more of a music player with phone capabilities than the other way around", but potential buyers want to know more, and one of the most wanted information is the price, of course.

Morgan Stanley analyst Rebecca F. Runkle, apart from predicting that Apple Computer Inc.'s shares will trade higher by the end of next year, boosted by revenue coming from the iPhone and the code-named "iTV" device, said she has "high conviction" that the iPhone will popup on the market in 2007's first half.

She expects that Steve Jobs will announce the iPhone at MacWorld, but the prices that have slipped out from Apple's unnamed sources are higher than those we heard about earlier. The only previous rumor about the iPhone's price was pointing to 249$ for the 4GB model, and 449$ for the 8Gb one. Now, things look different. Much different.

Just think about these numbers - 599 and 649! These are the new prices floating in the air for the 4GB and 8GB iPhones to come, but some new technical details are also available.

According to Rebecca F. Runkle's sources, the new phone from Apple will be wider than the iPod nano, thinner than the video and will have a 3.5" LCD screen, with a metal case available in multiple colors including at least black, white and silver. In the US, the likely carrier is expected to be Cingular Wireless. These being said, today's round of rumors about the iPhone is complete, but expect more in the future, because I am sure we'll have much more until the annual Apple expo that begins on the 9th of January 2007!
