Wireless charging has been a hot topic ever since the Powermat was first introduced, by now, a pretty large number of such devices making their way to market, although none is more impressive than Innex' electroHUB that can charge up to six devices at the same time.

Just as the Powermat, this device relies on wireless induction in order to send power to the electronics placed on top of its surface, this technology eliminating the need for individual cords and plugs.

However, unlike the Powermat, the electroHUB can charge up to six devices simultaneously thanks to a new “broad coil” technology.

Previously, the number of gadgets that could be charged depended on the number of built-in charging coils in the induction device, but this new technology allows for multiple items to share a single coil, despite different batteries and voltage requirements.

In order for this to work, custom batteries are available for purchase (in AA, AAA and other special form factors), so almost any device out there can become induction charge compliant.

In addition, special Apple adapters are available and they don't require the internal battery to be swapped.

“People need to charge more than one or two items at a time,” said Titi Ngoy, president of Innex.

Citing recent studies by CTIA and the NPD Group, Ngoy points out that that 91 percent of American households use cell phones and over 72 percent play video games. “That’s a lot of batteries,” continued Ngoy.

“Mobile phones, game controllers, e-readers… the electroHUB can charge them all simultaneously. Simply lay your device on the surface and you’ll get a full charge with no extra cords needed.

Finally, wireless means wireless,” concluded the company's rep.

Priced at $39.99, the electroHUB will be available for live demonstrations during the Consumer Electronics Show in January. (via cedailynews)
