Last week, the entire Internet world was talking about the new proposal sent to The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers concerning a new .xxx domain especially built for pornographic content. Although the proposal was first rejected in 2001, the Internet companies were requiring it again because the security of the virtual world is more and more threatened by adult material websites.

On Friday, the board of the organization decided to reject the proposal as both sides were opposing to the domain. According to Fox, the religious groups sustained the number of the adult websites will be increased a lot while the pornographic content said they can lose an important amount of money.

"This decision was the result of very careful scrutiny and consideration of all the arguments. That consideration has led a majority of the Board to believe that the proposal should be rejected. I thank my fellow Board members and the community for their input," said Dr Vint Cerf, Chairman of ICANN, according to a press release published on the official website of the organization.

Some users said it is a good idea to create a separate domain while others sustain the .xxx domain can cause a lot of headaches for both users and companies. In the recent period, the security companies from all over the world reported that numerous hackers and virus developers are trying to spread their infections using adult content files. The main reason that sustains the decision to build a separate domain able to host all the adult material websites is the possibility to filter the content browsed by a certain user, allowing users to control the pages visited by the kids or other guests of the computer.
