Convergence is one of the most important trends in technological design nowadays, used by an increased number of portable product's manufacturers around the world. This trend has also seriously affected the world of portable multimedia players, or PMPs and Wolverine's ESP Multimedia Storage Player proves it only very well, since this device provides a very generous storage space, multiple connectivity options and, more importantly, a few important features targeting especially avid photographers.

The device provides quite a wide range of functions, but we'll talk about the general and PMP-related ones first. Thus, the device has been fitted with a 3.6-inch LCD display, which can be used for controlling the device's multiple functions and, more importantly, for viewing photos or multimedia content. And speaking of multimedia content, it's worth mentioning the fact that the device from Wolverine supports MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, AAC (MP4-audio) & CDA music files, as well as MPEG-1, MPEG-4, WMV9 and Xvid video clips.

However, the portable player/storage device has a lot more features up its sleeve. Thus, the ESP also includes an FM tuner with support for FM recording and even provides the necessary inputs in order to allow users to hook it up to a TV or projector for video playback or to a TV/DVD/VCR/Camcorder for recording purposes.

Nevertheless, as mentioned earlier, the Wolverine ESP Multimedia Storage Player is a great tool for photographers as well. Thus, beside the built-in 7-in-1 Card Reader, which is quite interesting, but not so uncommon, the device provides support for JPEG, Bitmap, Tiff photos and, most importantly, for RAW images, which is the format used by most DSLR cameras. What's really impressive here is that the device supports RAW files coming from a very large number of camera models, including here some high-end professional devices, as for example the Canon 1Ds Mark-II, 1D Mark II N, 1D Mark-III, the Nikon D2XS and D2x, the Kodak DSC Pro series, the Contax: N Digital or the Leaf Aptus 17 Digital Back.

As you might have guessed, this thing is not exactly cheap, as it retails for around 650 US dollars, which, nevertheless, is quite a fair price to pay for one of the most advanced and versatile PMPs available on the market.
