Recently acquired by Electronic Arts, independent games publisher Chillingo has just announced that it has signed an agreement with indie games developer one2tribe to bring 'The Witcher: Versus' for iPhone to the Apple App Store

Fans of the franchise are probably aware of the fact that the game is based on the highly-acclaimed online browser-based PC RPG game The Witcher: Versus.

While the game borrows lots of the RPG elements of the PC version, players will immerse into an action-packed strategic combat world filled with fierce duels that won't be driven by a storyline.

Players must simply choose one of the classes available (Witcher, Sorceress or Frightener) and jump right into the fray of battle.

“The Witcher franchise is one of the industry's most popular PC RPG games and we are proud to collaborate with one2tribe to bring this new version of the browser-based MMO dueling title to the iPhone and iPod touch,” explains Joe Wee, co-general manager of Chillingo.

“We aim to provide consumers with a variety of game genres to choose from and The Witcher: Versus shines as one of our best MMO titles to date.”

As soon as players select a character, they can start fighting, gain experience, and develop their skills against other players or by battling monsters.

Experience can be gained by completing quests, which are also unlocking new weapons, amulets and magical items that can improve the character's fighting abilities.

Multiplayer mode is an important part of the game, as players will be able to compete against others playing the online browser and WAP versions of the game.

“Fans will still find epic duels in The Witcher: Versus; however we have revolutionized the gameplay for iOS devices so they quickly discover new possibilities and features unseen before,” explains Wojciech Ozimek, the CEO of one2tribe.

“Chillingo is the ideal partner to publish our game based on their proven track record – we wanted to ensure that our title is introduced properly with new consumers so they can discover the immersive, addictive adventure at their fingertips,” added Ozimek.

It is unclear when exactly “'The Witcher: Versus” is available for download on the App Store, but Chillingo has dubbed the game as “Coming Soon”.
