The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will get a day-one patch on May 19, when it officially launches worldwide, taking it to version 1.01. However, it can also be downloaded and applied by those who choose to pirate the title, as CD Projekt Red confirms this on an actual illegal torrent for the upcoming RPG.

The Witcher 3 is set to launch on May 19 all around the world for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms. The game already went live for preload across some of these devices, including the PC, where its early files can be downloaded by Steam and GOG users through their own services, provided they've pre-purchased the RPG.

The Witcher 3's early files are available on torrents

Unfortunately, those early files are already available for download via illegal torrent websites. However, instead of doing anything it can to prevent such things, developer CD Projekt Red confirms through a comment on such a website that, while it certainly wants fans to buy the RPG, they can download the day-one patch and apply it to their illegal copies.

More specifically, the representative of the developer, as you can see in the screenshot above, mentions that patch 1.01 for The Witcher 3 launches on May 19, right alongside the game, bringing numerous fixes.

It will be available as a download from the official website and it's aimed at everybody, not just those who bought the game. As such, pirates who use the illegal copy of the title can still apply it to their own installation.

CD Projekt Red would appreciate it if pirates end up buying the RPG

The representative does emphasize that buying the RPG is going to help the studio in the long term and that owners will get 16 free DLC packs over time with all sorts of great elements. The title also delivers a lot of content and it can be purchased for a pretty low price on different services and websites, like GOG.
