Mockup imagines what a Windows 98 phone would look like

Do you like Windows 98? Do you like Windows Phone? Then this Windows 98 Phone is pretty much the best you could get if Microsoft ever wanted to have you and other people like you among its customer base.

Successor to the Windows 95 Phone, this Windows 98 Phone mockup comes with almost the same features as Windows 10 for phones, without giving up on one of the most appreciated features in Windows Phone: live tiles.

Indeed, these tiles aren't exactly “live,” but they do come with a similar design, while also borrowing some ideas from Windows 98, one of the first Windows operating systems that helped Bill Gates bring a computer on every desk.

And if you look at every single detail in this picture, it's very clear that the Windows 98 Phone could really replace Windows Phone because it has pretty much everything you'd ever want.

Old look, modern features

Just like Windows Phone, the Windows 98 Phone comes with a news app, with Internet Explorer, an email client (which is none other than the traditional Outlook app), the Office productivity suite and... and... Clippy.

That's right, you won't get Cortana, but instead you'll get Clippy, the original Office assistant that was available for those who installed the Office suite and needed help to get around the software.

You also get a taskbar, a show desktop button to see the wallpaper and a quick launcher, which, let's be honest, is still missing from Windows Phone and would really come in handy.

As far as music and video are concerned, you also get the traditional media player and a number of other simple apps, but there's no doubt that you wouldn't miss a thing when switching from Windows Phone to the Windows 98 Phone.

Obviously, this is just a mockup, but with little imagination, Microsoft could really create something that would appeal to those still in love with this classic. We would personally use a Windows 98 Phone. Would you?
