Promotional material for the White iPhone 4 appears in a leaked image by pocketnow.com, which believes that Walmart has the device in stock, preparing to launch it as soon as this week.

According to the leaked image, indeed it looks as though the consumer giant may have the White iPhone 4 on sale soon.

The photo (available above) clearly shows that Walmart will be carrying the 16GB version of the White iPhone 4 for a price of $197.00 with a qualifying two year agreement.

Trying to add credence to the rumor, the source adds that Walmart stocks the the Black 16GB iPhone 4 for “the same low rolled back price of $197.00.”

But why is the White iPhone 4 so enticing? Well, just like with diamonds, scarcity tends to make a product more appealing.

As it turned out sometime in June… “White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have proven more challenging to manufacture than expected, and as a result they will not be available until the second half of July,” Apple said in a statement on the White iPhone 4.

“The availability of the more popular iPhone 4 black models is not affected,” the company assured customers.

A month later, Apple came back with a similar statement, saying “White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year.”

The device is still not available for purchase anywhere in the world.

In related news, China is getting its first shipments of the Black iPhone 4 tomorrow, while several new territories on Apple’s list are getting the device today. These include Romania, The Philippines, Malaysia, Israel, Turkey, and Guam.
