You know how discontinued stuff suddenly becomes more attractive just because you can't have it anymore? Well, today you’ve got the chance to buy a computer that may just become a piece of Apple history.

The Apple online store is now featuring a $150 discount on a White MacBook with a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, the ubiquitous 8x double-layer SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW), and NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics with 256MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory.

It also has a built-in iSight camera, and ships with iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand and iWeb).

Apple has long touted the White MacBook as its best-selling Mac. Considering this thing is well on its way to become a legendary system someday, you can grab this beauty right now for $849. It ships in 3-5 business days in the U.S.

It runs OS X Lion like a charm, but it ships with Snow Leopard, which means you’ll have to pluck an additional 30 bucks for the upgrade to OS X 10.7 through the Mac App Store.

There’s no apparent reason why this notebook shouldn’t run OS X Mountain Lion when it arrives this summer. The computer was originally released in May 2010, and it’s one of the newer models with a unibody enclosure.

“The sleek MacBook cuts a slim profile on any desk (or in any backpack or briefcase),” Apple says on the product page. “It features a seamless, durable unibody enclosure with rounded contours that make it easy to pick up and slide into and out of your bag.”

“It’s made of rugged polycarbonate that withstands the rough and tumble of everyday life at school, at work, or while traveling. And since the bottom of the MacBook is covered in a nonslip material, it always stays right where you put it — whether it's on a desk, table, or airplane tray,” the company says.

Apple touts seven hours of wireless productivity between charges.
