The fourth mid-season premiere shook the show from its lethargy

“The Walking Dead” made its hordes of fans by shocking them constantly and keeping them on the edge of their seats as the action unfolded quickly and often took turns for the worst without any prior warning.

While that was true to season one and parts of season two, starting with the third season, the zombie apocalypse TV show lost most of its appeal when all the cast camped out in a deserted prison or in a make-shift gated community.

Now that the first episode from the other half of the fourth season has aired, it's safe to say the show is back on its track. Titled simply “After,” the episode reveals what happened to the heroes after the fall of their prison-fortress at the hands of the evil Governor.

The action looks to follow Carl more closely and some have suggested that the producers are gearing him up to replace Rick, whose demise is expected by many, although he is the main character in the story.

Whatever decision the producers will take from here on, it's safe to say that it's going to improve the show and bring back the atmosphere that made it famous in the first place. Let's just hope they don't kill off too many main characters in the process.
