Sony Ericsson continues the series of Walkman phones with W700 model. The handset shares the same characteristics as the W800i, except for the new Titanium gold design and the memory which has dropped from 512 MB to 256 MB.

The W700 tries to offer users an enriched audio experience. A useful feature is the ability to listen to music while the phone is turned off. A graphical equalizer and Mega Bass can be used to adjust the audio quality. Thanks to the installed Disc2Phone software, the CD tracks can be easily converted into supported formats, which include MP3 and AAC. The handset comes with high-quality Sony headsets and FM radio with RDS.

Connectivity is achieved through Bluetooth, infrared and USB. A WAP 2.0 web browser allows users to surf the Internet.

The W700 comes with a 2 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom, capable of video recording in MPEG-4 format. Other features include a 176 x 220 display, e-mail client, memory expansion up to 2 GB and the rest of the now standard characteristics.

The handset operates in GSM/GPRS 900/1800/1900 MHz networks and will be available in two versions: W700i for Europe, Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and W700c for China.

The release date is scheduled for the second quarter of 2006. Details about pricing are yet unknown.
