One of the most anticipated point-and-click adventure games of the year, A Vampyre Story, finally has a release date: October, right before Halloween. Ascaron and 93 Games have chosen a great date and all I can say is that I am extremely happy to find out that, finally, I'll be able to get my hands on the game: it is one developed by Bill Tiller, who previously worked on adventure classics The Curse of Monkey Island and Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.

The game presents the story of Mona De Lafitte who is captured by vampire baron Shrowdy Von Kiefer. Accompanied by her mischievous bat, Froderick, Mona must escape the evil baron's clutches, facing a number of puzzling challenges on her way. In order to return to Paris and follow her dream of becoming a famous opera singer, Mona must learn to take advantage of her newly acquired vampire abilities. So, as you can see, the game will indeed be a humorous adventure, like the good old ones, that will bring nothing but magic for fans worldwide.

"We've got an exceptional comedic adventure on our hands with A Vampyre Story," said Byron Gaum, product manager at DreamCatcher Games. "The game shines with its wild and crazy characters, richly-detailed graphics and has more than 15 hours of brain-teasing fun. The talented development team behind this tale takes us back to the spirit and adventures they made famous in Monkey Island."

So, if you are a point-and-click adventure fan and you're waiting to get your hands on this game ever since it first got announced, a few years ago, you know that this Halloween will be just the "treat" for you, since A Vampyre Story is a must have for everybody. Hopefully, it will also be the game that will revive the entire genre and bring it the glory it had in the good old days.
