The first full trailer for the sci-fi thriller “Transcendence” has been released and it will certainly baffle you. Johnny Depp stars as a brilliant scientist who is working on the ultimate artificial intelligence but is shot by a member of an anti-technology extremist group.

As he dies, members of his team decide to upload his brain into the computer they were working on. He then becomes a super-intelligent organism, capable of controlling any electronic device. From here, the trailer gets blurry, showing only partial imagery, but the outcome is clear – a lot of destruction.

“Transcendence” has a lot of big names attached to it. Apart from the cast that also stars the talents of Morgan Freeman, Rebecca Hall, Cillian Murpy and Paul Bettany, it also features Wally Pfister as first-time director. Wally is a known collaborator of Christopher Nolan and has worked on big cinematographic hits such as “The Dark Knight” and “Inception.”

Interestingly, “Transcendence” was featured on the 2012 Hollywood Black List, a list of the most anticipated unproduced screenplays floating around in Hollywood. The film is set to be released on April 18, 2014. Will you be in the cinema when it hits?
