14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft rolled out some pretty awesome deals on Windows Phone for the holiday season, and since so many people were expected to purchase a new smartphone, it was pretty much obvious that Redmond’s mobile platform would grow during this time of the year.
But as far as new device activations are concerned, statistics provided by AdDuplex show that the top Windows Phone handset during the holidays was not a Lumia, which is pretty much a big surprise for both users and Microsoft itself.
Lumias are currently the main pioneers of Windows Phone, but the holiday season proved that other manufacturers can also get the lion’s share in this side of the market if they play their cards right.
BLU Win HD, one of the few non-Microsoft Windows Phone devices on the market, posted a growth of 110 percent, more than double the figures achieved by the Lumia 735.
Almost 50 percent of users got a Lumia 735
Leaving the BLU Win HD aside, which is pretty clear that recorded an unexpected huge success on Christmas, the Lumia 735 also sold like hot cakes, and 50 percent of those who purchased a new Windows Phone device chose this particular model.
As AdDuplex writes, the Windows Phone lineup is really varied, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a model that easily addresses your requirements, but the 735 is indeed a good choice.
“On the first glance it could look sensational that BLU’s phone more than doubled in number of installs on Christmas, but the key here is that its total installs per day are in the hundreds compared to thousands and tens of thousands for Lumia models. It is great to see that many of you got Lumia 735 for Christmas – a really great value phone,” AdDuplex pointed out.
The flagship 930 is also in the top
Surprisingly, the Lumia 930, which is still considered Microsoft’s 5-inch flagship, is also in these charts, which proves that, despite the display and battery issues, people are still buying it.
The Lumia 930 is indeed a very powerful phone, but it’s still suffering from several problems, while also lacking essential features that should be available on flagships, including Glance Screen.
BLU Win HD is not even close to the Lumia 930, as it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor, 1 GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel camera, and 8 GB of internal storage.
