The Sims 4, the life simulation title from developer Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts, is the number one video game for the United Kingdom market for the week that ended on September 6, which means that the title has managed to put in a solid performance during its launch period despite the fact that it was only offered on the PC, which is seen by many as a limited platform.

The new title is designed with an entirely new engine and allows players to create a variety of characters with unique ideas and life aspirations in a world that has more content and more potential interactions than ever before.

The title has already received a patch, which is designed to eliminate dates with the Grim Reaper and some other problems, and the developers at Maxis are saying that they will continue to update the experience with both free and paid content.

Second place in the United Kingdom is occupied, somewhat surprisingly, by Watch Dogs from Ubisoft, an open world experience which is set to soon get access to a major piece of DLC called Bad Blood, which will introduce a new campaign and some other gameplay changes.

The title was previously sitting in ninth and its rebound is pretty impressive.

The final position on the podium belongs to the Redux version of Metro, which includes both titles in the series re-created using the most recent version of the game engine, with a number of gameplay enhancements and with two new entire game modes.

The rest of the top ten

The Last of Us: Remastered on the PlayStation 4, created by Naughty Dog and published by Sony, continues to perform well and is in fourth place for the week, according to data from UKIE. This is a testament to the power of current-gen consoles to drive gamers to buy content for a second time.

Diablo 3 – Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition is in fifth place for the week, dropping from second and displacing Call of Duty: Ghosts, which is now in sixth.

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft is in seventh at the moment, followed by Plants versus Zombies: Garden Warfare.

In ninth, gamers can find the PlayStation 3 version of the indie hit, and the last position on the United Kingdom top ten belongs to Grand Theft Auto V, the open world title from Rockstar and Take Two.

Destiny launches this week and it will be interesting to see the impact it will have on the charts.
