The development team at Maxis and publisher Electronic Arts announce that they are working on the first major expansion for The Sims 4, called Get to Work, which is designed to expand the world of the game by giving players more career paths to follow and by adding a range of other features.

The launch date is at the moment set for April on both the PC and the Mac, and gamers who want to experience an enhanced version of the life simulation will have to spend 40 dollars or Euro.

The biggest elements introduced in Get to Work for The Sims 4 are the three new career paths, each of them with new tasks to perform and benefits for the character who chooses them.

Players can become doctors if they want to save lives, perform emergency surgery in the most inopportune moments, or deliver babies for the first time in the history of the franchise.

Cops and associated professionals can interrogate other Sims and investigate crime scenes in order to find criminals and arrest them before they can disturb the community.

The final new career in Get to Work is scientist, and their focus will be on inventions, like the Sim Ray, which can be used for either good or evil.

All the jobs come complete with new locations and items.

The expansion for Sims 4 also introduces new business opportunities for the character, including boutiques, bakeries, art galleries, bookstores and more, each with a range of customization options and opportunities for enterprising gamers.

The base Sims 4 experience is also being expanded

Gamers who might not be interested in the new careers can also learn some new skills, including photography and baking, which can be either used to decorate a house or to earn some extra revenue.

Finally, Get to Work for The Sims 4 is also adding aliens to the game, with players having to carefully test their friends in order to find out who came from another planet and discover new locations linked to them.

The Maxis title was criticized on launch by long-term fans, who claimed it limited the freedom of gamers, but the new expansion might satisfy some players who are looking for a more diverse experience.
