A major character will be killed off on season 25 of “The Simpsons”: who will it be?

“The Simpsons” has set all kinds of new records during its 25-season run, so the time is just right to say goodbye to a major character this year, executive producer Al Jean seems to believe.

So, on the recently premiered new season, one character will die. Jean won’t say who it is, but he did offer what looks like a major hint about who it could be.

“I’ll give you a clue that the actor playing the character won an Emmy for playing that character, but I won’t say who it is,” Jean said in a recent interview.

Then, there’s this: by now, most of the actors voicing series regulars have won Emmys, so that doesn’t narrow it down one bit.

What narrows the list down just a tad is considering only the actors winning Emmys for voicing a Simpsons character, so that we’re left with any of the following characters: Marge, Homer, Lisa, Bart, Apu, Ms. Krabappel, Moe, Grandpa, Sideshow Bob, Krusty, Barney, Carl, Duffman, Chief Wiggum, and Comic Book Guy.

So who do you think is going to kick the bucket?
