Since there's a lot of information flying around about new projects regarding various handsets, it's Palm's turn to spread a rumor. Well, if we follow the trail, we'll actually see that the officials from Palm were not those to release the new gossip, but some people who have a lot of free time and who are really interested in the mobile industry.

It so happened that, one day, a Treo Central forum user found some really neat information about some of Palm's current projects. The user, who went under the "Malatesta" nickname, revealed that one of the projects Palm was involved in could be the next 800w. Basically, "Malatesta" discovered some of the e-mails sent between the people at Palm and the FCC.

The results were pretty interesting. It seems that "Otto" was the codename for the Treo 500w model, whereas "Gryphon/Gandalf" for the Sprint Centro 690, and "The Gnome" for Centro 685; the thing that bugs us the most is the codename "Zeppelin", which could be the Treo 800w model.

In the document, there was also given various information about what the 800w model would feature: a WiFi and radio. But, all these are just simple conclusions of a user who came across a document. Then again, there have been lots of rumors that have become reality, after different fans dug up information like this. From what "Malatesta" said, these informations have already been up and "running" from October.

But, while some users still dig for clues, others claim that they have seen the 800w model and even held one. Another user from the Treo Central forum reveals the fact that the Palm model features a built-in WiFi, looks a lot like the Centro model, has a blue color and a ringer switch. Also, the model has no antenna or miniUSB, but instead, it introduces a brand new proprietary connector. And the scoop doesn't stop here. The 800w model is not metallic or rubberized and has an even smaller keypad. It will be released at the beginning of the next year.

At this point, we still don't know if the Palm is real or not. If what everybody says is true, then we can put the new model on the Christmas list.
