An innovative and elegant device from a promising startup

Taking into consideration just how famous Apple's flagship product, the iPod, has become over the past few years, the fact that the number of accessories (docking stations, remote controls etc.) designed especially for this player has virtually skyrocketed comes as no surprise. And the latest such item I've come across is the iMirror presented by the start-up company Bexy, a device that - beside having a very exquisite, stylish look - allows users to dock the iPod and also control it from a distance.

Thus, the iMirror Wireless Remote Control Docking Station for iPod, as this thing is officially called, uses the company's proprietary technology in order to ease the iPod's connection, configuration and operation processes. In order to do so, the device has been fitted with an LCD display user interface, which allows users to remotely navigate, control and play all their iPod music and video clips via the docking station connected to their big screen TVs, AV receivers, powered speakers, and stereo systems.

The iMirror automatically loads all iPod title information into the wireless remote upon initial docking in a few seconds, thus making all content navigable and controllable remotely throughout a home. Moreover, the wireless 2-Way communication between the remote and the iPod dock, along with easy button navigation of virtually all iPod music and video functions, provides the user with real-time system status and complete control just about wherever he might be (around the house, of course). The wireless remote control operates from up to 150 feet (45 meters) away and includes a lithium battery that recharges when placed on the dock.

The docking station charges and provides the necessary storage space for most iPod models including the iPod Nano 1G and 2G, iPod 4G and 5G, and iPod Mini. It features a very comprehensive set of cable connections for playing the multimedia content stored onto the iPod through big screen TVs and stereos including S-Video for the highest quality video output, RCA stereo audio and video, and a line audio mini-stereo cable or earphone output. Moreover, the device also features a mini USB port for synchronizing with iTunes on a PC.

John Gitelman, Chief Marketing Officer at Bexy, declared that, "We believe that everyone, not just technophiles and those with the ways and means for custom installation, can enjoy the abundance of today's digital entertainment accessible from any room in their home. We take extraordinary steps to de-complicate and de-confuse our products to deliver an affordable out-of-box experience in five minutes or less", then adding that "the iMirror is the ideal full-functioned, simple to connect and operate iPod Music and Video companion for central home entertainment systems".

The iMirror from Bexy is available immediately on the company's website for around $149.95, which is actually an OK price to pay for such a device, although the company could have made it a little cheaper, at least for promotional purposes.
