Even non-bling remotes can be painfully expensive

All things come with a price and the new remote control from Savant is no exception to this rule. But when it comes to modern remote control technology, price is by far a matter not to be taken lightly; and as the usual recipe for a high price is adding bling, you'd maybe expect that the Rosie Contemporary remote from Savant boasted gold and diamonds. Well, we hate to disappoint you, but we're talking pure tech here, no Swarowski and no precious metals are to be found in this one.

Like any modern remote control with self respect, the Savant Rosie Contemporary has dumped the traditional polyhedral design and boasts the rounded one, ergonomically fit for the palm of your hand.

It comes in a dish shape, pretty much like a small bowl filled with high tech and there are several finishes you can choose from, including polished and lacquered wood essences, leather, metal and pretty much any material you could ever think of.

The buttons follow a very logical placement order and navigating between functions is easy and comfortable. The Savant Rosie Contemporary comes in two different models, the standard one and the OSD (On Screen Display) which is smarter and can be used to interact with most appliances around the house.

So if you live in an all-tech house, it might prove that this remote control could be the ideal tool as it can provide your interfacing with lighting and security systems, thermostats and of course, everything that's on the audio and the video side. And for so many things this remote can access, the customizable buttons on the outer ring can be configured according to your needs; this capability is essential for the OSD version, as rich-graphics menus are available for the various functions.

Now, there is a radical price difference between the two remotes: the standard version, in high gloss black finish retails for around $400, while the OSD unit will leave your account $3,800 thinner. And for these prices, you're definitely not gonna throw the remote at your cat.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there.
