Samsung announced the release of a home and small office oriented laser printer, the CLP-300, which features a price tag of only $250 for the non network version, while the full version reaches a still affordable $350. As the Samsung CLP-300 laser printer is intended solely for home and small office use, it features only the most basic functions being neither fast nor extremely high quality in is prints.

For a laser printer the Samsung CLP-300 is remarkably small, compact and light as it weighs only around 15 kilograms. Both versions, the CLP-300 and the CLP-300N (networked), feature a 300MHz processor and either 64MB of memory or only 32MB as is the case with the CLP-300 model. At the connectivity level, the simpler CLP-300 printer offers a single high-speed USB 2.0 connection while the other versions come with a 10/100 Etehrnet port for network access. The CLP-300 printer is so small in part because the manufacturing company, Samsung, separated the toner cartridge from the image drum, thus smaller toners were produced.

Being a low price and mainly home intended laser printer the Samsung CLP-300 does not offer much in the way of printing speed, as it is able to reach a black text printing speed of 13.49 pages per minute, while printing black and white images drops the printing rate of a mere 3.68ppm. Color text and image printing are not the strong point of this tiny laser printer either as the Samsung CLP-300 goes for 3.77ppm and 3.71ppm, respectively. On the user accessibility level, the CLP-300 laser printer does not offer much as the control panel is so basic that it only features a cancel button and four LEDs to warn users when the toner levels are getting low. Changing the printer setup is done solely from the operating system as the printer comes with an administrative software suite and all the necessary drivers.
