14 DAY TRIAL // The bonds between the movie and the gaming industry are tighter then ever. It's just a question of time until a big movie will be followed by a game with a similar title or even launched together with it. At least, these are the latest trends.
But a game inspired by a movie is not at all a single way approach, so seeing a series of movies based on great games doesn't come as a surprise.
But enough theory talk! The main news is that the actor Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock (The Scorpion King, The Rundown) will be the playing the main character of the Doom The Movie. Or, at least, he's claiming that he will (he announced it an a show promoting his new film, "Be Cool") .
But, according to IMDB, another actor is credited for the main role (John Grimm): Karl Urban, who became famous after playing Eomer in "The Lord of The Rings" trilogy. On the same page, The Rock is listed in the role of the Sarge.
Despite the uncertainty concerning the leading actor, it is known, though, that the action of the Doom movie will take place in a paramilitary research facility on Mars. The movie is expected in theaters in August this year, a year after Doom 3 was released for PCs. The director is Andrzej Bartkowiak, "responsible" for Romeo Must Die and Cradle 2 the Grave. Judging from his previous work, we hope he will not transform Grimm in a kung-fu master.
An Xbox version of Doom 3 is announced for April 3rd.
