Listen up all you cool characters, it's the last week for the Shady O' Grady's "Are You a Rising Star?" contest, so daddy-o, if you haven't entered, you'd better hurry and lay those hot tracks on us! The contest ends Friday, August 25th, so time's-a-wastin', get those tunes in!

The "Are You a Rising Star?" contest is in conjunction with the upcoming single-player computer role-playing game, Shady O' Grady's Rising Star from Gilligames and Shrapnel Games for all Windows based PCs. Set in a contemporary world of making it big in the music world, Shady O' Grady's Rising Star is a unique game of what it takes to take a band from zeroes to heroes.

Featuring real, independent musical acts on the game's soundtrack, the currently contest is seeking to augment those bands already featured by finding the best and brightest undiscovered acts the world has to offer. The contest is open to any unsigned musical act that plays blues, country, folk, jazz, pop, punk, rap or ska (the game also features pure rock and roll and metal, but due to the overwhelming popularity of those genres the contest is not seeking any more bands in those genres). Submit as many songs as you want, we'd love to hear them all!

After the 25th all contest entries that have passed an initial review for general quality and tastefulness will then face a round of public voting, with the top vote-getters being placed into Shady O' Grady's Rising Star. That's right; your song could be potentially heard by gamers from around the world every time they play the game. How much easier could your global exposure be?

To enter the contest go to shrapnelcommunity.com and fill out the information. The submitted songs will need to be in digital form (sorry, the days of passing around third-generation cassette tapes are long gone) and stored online someplace.

Shady O' Grady's Rising Star is set for an October release. Featuring ten genres of music, an extensive player-generated story that boasts more than twenty hours of gameplay (and is endlessly replayable, thanks to the myriad of variables in each game and ease of moddability), tons of places to visit and equipment to use, and a full rock-n-roll role playing experience, Shady O' Grady's Rising Star is quite different from every other CRPG currently on the market. Forget killing orcs, dread pirates, and rescuing damsels in distress, in Shady O' Grady's Rising Star unleash a killer axe attack, destroy hotel rooms, and become number one with a bullet.
