Not very easy to read, but quite eye catching

The Japanese really do have a thing for strange watches, as they keep coming out with all sorts of unusual items, whose main purpose is to be as attractive as possible, but, in the same time, as difficult to read as possible. And that's exactly the case with the Radio Active watch presented by the people over at TokyoFlash, a mighty time-telling machine that looks pretty much like the control system of a nuclear power plant, at least when looking at it from a distance.

As the vendors themselves admit it, this thing is easier to look at than to read. Thus, the time is displayed by simply adding the lights, but this specific operation could prove to be a lot harder than anyone might expect. The red Warning LED informs the user when 6 hours have passed and then the remaining 6 hours are red on the Danger gauge.

And if you thought things were difficult with hours, let me tell you that telling the minutes is an even more excruciating operation. Thus, the watch features the "Radiation Danger" symbol in the lower side of the display, each of the three spaces in said symbol including a LED light that informs the user when 10, 20 or 30 minutes have passed. Moreover, the exact time is read by counting the number of lights under the "Activate Reactor" label.

The Radio Active watch is quite sturdy, as it is manufactured out of solid, stainless steel, and sports a mineral crystal face. Moreover, it is water resistant up to 3 ATM and is not even that bulky (albeit larger than other model), as it measures around 31mm x 41mm x 11mm, at a weight of around 150 grams. Nevertheless, you should check your wrist size before purchasing one of these things, as it only "supports" wrist sizes of up to 200 mm.

This rather peculiar time-telling item is available, for now solely in Japan, for around 105 US dollars, which is not exactly a very small price to pay for having your own, personal Chernobyl strapped to your hand at all times.
