The "New Twitter" was revealed about three weeks ago and Twitter has been slowly rolling it out to more users. While Twitter hasn't made the official announcement yet, the revamped site is very close to being available to all users and the process should be completed very shortly.

Twitter has actually confirmed that the majority of users are getting the redesigned version of the site. The New Twitter started to be tested with a small minority mid-September.

The most curios thing about the New Twitter is that, despite being a major change in many respects, users have been almost universally pleased with the new site.

Considering the type of backlash Facebook sees for even the most minor change, either Twitter users are very laid-back or Twitter has done a very good job with the new site.

Most people tend to think it's the latter and, now former, CEO Evan Williams, the man behind the revamped site, has been praised for the good job.

The New Twitter borrows quite a few cues from Twitter desktop apps. The right panel is now an integral part of the experience. While the left side is still reserved for the stream and search results, interesting things are happening in the other half of the screen.

Click on any tweet and you get a lot more information about it and its author. Another interesting addition is the possibility to view media content, photos, videos and so on, inline, without having to leave the site.

While this addition could have been seen as Twitter leaving its simplicity behind, it proves quite useful in practice and doesn't clutter up the site.

As an interesting piece of trivia about the New Twitter, the designers actually built it around the "golden ratio." If you're one of the few unlucky ones still left with the old Twitter, the wait shouldn't be long now.
