Few were the horror films that really surprised audiences in a pleasant way in recent years, but “The Possession” stands good chances to be among them. A first trailer for it has just been released.

The name and the plot of the title may be common horror fare, but the execution is definitely top-notch, judging by the trailer.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays a father of two young girls, the kind who is grounded at the same time as he is willing to grant them their every wish.

Kyra Sedgwick is the mom, while Madison Davenport and Natasha Calis play the girls.

When the oldest daughter, Em, buys an antique box at a yard sale and suddenly becomes obsessed with it, no one thinks much of it but, in almost no time, the first signs of possession start to appear.

Whether they will be able to get the demon out of their daughter is anyone's guess right now.

“The Possession” will be out on August 31. Check out the trailer and see if it does it for you.
