Panda Antivirus vulnerable to attacks

Panda Antivirus, one of the most popular security solutions on the Internet, is vulnerable to DoS attacks and might allow an attacker to control your computer. The security flaw affects several products provided by the developer such as Panda Antivirus Enterprise Suite, Panda Antivirus Platinum 6 and 7, Panda Antivirus Small Business Edition and Panda Antivirus Titanium. Although it seems that the security flaw might be fixed, it proves us that our computers might become vulnerable to any powerful attacker. Security company Secunia rated the flaw as less critical but sustained that a successful Denial of Service attack might help an intruder obtain higher privileges.

"Jean-Sebastien Guay-Leroux has reported a vulnerability in Panda AntiVirus, which can be exploited by malicious people to cause a DoS (Denial of Service). The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the handling of Zoo archives. This can be exploited to cause an infinite loop resulting in high CPU utilisation," it is mentioned in the security advisory.

It's obvious we're not safe anymore because even the applications that must protect our computers are vulnerable to malicious attacks. In the recent period, a lot of programs became the subject of the security advisories after the companies discovered more or less critical vulnerabilities. Take the example of Kaspersky Antivirus, one of the leading solutions on the market that was also containing an important security flaw able to harm users' computers.

Symantec was even more affected after numerous solutions developed by the security company were attacked by hackers, trying to exploit the vulnerabilities discovered in the programs. So, no matter what security application you installed, antivirus or firewall, Kaspersky or Symantec, our computers are vulnerable to attacks and your data might be accessed by unauthorized people.
